American Bully, Breeding, Stud Service -

How Does American Bully Stud Service Work?

If you own a quality American Bully female and are thinking about a litter, choosing the right stud is one of the biggest decisions you will make. This guide explains how American Bully stud service works, from picking a stud to registering the litter.

What is stud service?

Stud service is when the owner of a male dog (the stud) breeds him to another owner's female for a fee. The female's owner usually keeps and raises the litter.

At NMG Bullies we offer stud service with our proven studs, including our featured stud, ABKC CH Homicide. See our Available Studs and Stud Service pages.

Step 1: Make sure your female is ready

Before you book, make sure your female is:

  • Healthy, with a recent vet check
  • Old enough and physically mature. Many breeders wait until a female is at least about 2 years old.
  • Up to date on vaccines and parasite prevention
  • Registered, if you want to register the litter

Talk to your vet about whether your female is a good candidate for breeding.

Step 2: Choose the right stud

The best stud is not always the most famous. Look for a stud who complements your female. If she needs more bone, look for a stud with heavy bone. If her head could be stronger, look for a stud with a great head.

Things to consider:

  • Structure: bone, chest, topline, movement
  • Size: what size class you want the puppies to fall in
  • Temperament: a calm, confident stud
  • Bloodline: how his pedigree fits with hers
  • Proven record: puppies he has already produced

Our dogs come from grand champion bloodlines including Daxline, Venomline, Homieline and Razorsedge. You can see dogs we have produced on our Produced page.

Step 3: Contact the stud owner early

Reach out before or at the very start of your female's heat cycle. That gives time to plan the best breeding days. Call or text us at 561-714-2477 to check availability.

Step 4: Timing the breeding

Timing is everything. A female's heat cycle usually lasts about 2 to 3 weeks, and she is only fertile for a few days of it. Many owners use progesterone testing at their vet to find the best breeding days, which can improve the chances of a successful breeding.

Step 5: The stud fee

Stud fees vary by stud. Contact us for the current fee for the stud you are interested in. At NMG Bullies, a puppy deposit can also be transferred toward a stud fee, which gives buyers more flexibility. We accept all major payment methods.

Before the breeding, make sure you understand:

  • The total fee and when it is due
  • What happens if the female does not get pregnant
  • What paperwork you will receive

Get these details in writing.

Step 6: Paperwork and registration

To register the litter with the ABKC, both the stud and the female need to be registered. After the breeding, the stud owner provides the paperwork needed for the litter registration. Ask us about the paperwork when you book. Read more in our guide on why ABKC papers matter.

Step 7: Caring for your pregnant female

American Bully pregnancies last about 63 days. During that time:

  • Keep up with vet visits.
  • Ask your vet about diet changes in the later weeks.
  • Prepare a whelping area that is warm, quiet and clean.
  • Learn the signs of labor and have your vet's emergency number ready.

Some bully females with very compact builds may need help during delivery. Talk to your vet early about your plan.

Common stud service questions

How many breedings are included?
This depends on the stud owner. Ask before you book.

Do I have to bring my female to you?
Contact us to discuss the details for your breeding.

Can you help me pick the right stud for my female?
Yes. Send us photos and the pedigree of your female and we will talk through the pairing.

Questions to ask any stud owner

  1. What is the stud's size and pedigree?
  2. Has he produced litters before, and can I see them?
  3. What is the fee, and when is it due?
  4. How many breedings are included?
  5. What happens if my female does not get pregnant?
  6. What paperwork will I get for registering the litter?

Having clear answers before the breeding protects both owners and makes the process smooth.

Mistakes to avoid when breeding your female

  1. Breeding too young. Wait until your female is physically mature and cleared by your vet.
  2. Picking a stud by color alone. Color is fun, but structure, health and temperament matter far more.
  3. Guessing the timing. Progesterone testing takes the guesswork out of finding the right days.
  4. No plan for the puppies. Before you breed, think about how you will raise, socialize and place the litter.
  5. Skipping the paperwork. Make sure everything you need for registration is in hand before the breeding.

A well-planned breeding protects your female and gives the puppies the best start in life.
